BDO is a local Non-government, Non- political, voluntary organization. It has been working in ``Barind Area” since 1987. The working area of the organization is the centre of ``Barind tract’’ where life is written in water - ``environmentally’’ is half-deserted area. This area is marked with dry climate, less annual rainfall, scarcity of water, barren stony and interlaces land, approximately 17% population are indigenous covering 15 communities. Among them 92% are land less, literacy rate is 18%, socially excluded and unprotected, about 90% people are living below poverty line, no civic and political rights and no access to different services. Though they are the founder of ancient society of Indian subcontinent for their rich cultural background but at present they are most neglected part of society even they have no constitutional recognition. The lack of tree (which occupies only 01% of the total land) wills tern it into a deserted land in near future. Cultivated rate is only 1.7. More than 65% of population are landless and live under poverty level, lack of education and employment opportunity are the common picture of the community. Since last 2.5 decade Government and Non- government Organization are trying to develop the situation and the condition of people through a massive development programme but situation remain same as before. People have no access in exercise of power in the local resources; they have no voice and unity, depend to landlord, local tout and political leader in deferent way. BDO has been taking initiative to improve the situation through linkup the target people with organization development, voice rising and empower them to remain their asset what they are mobilizing through the income generation activities. BDO was entrusted with the responsibility to unite people under the slogan ``Unity is consciousness and consciousness is development’’. In 1987 along with some former activist Md. Akhtar Hossain took initiative to organized people for overcoming the above deteriorated situation.
